Out with the old, in with the new

About two weeks ago, they finally took down all of the scaffolding in front of our apartment building. They repainted the entire façade and it looks great.  Every time I come home, though, I expect to see the first new graffiti on our freshly painted walls.  Nothing yet, but I’m sure it will come eventually.

And now, so you can get an idea of the transformation yourself,  here are some before and after photos!  The before photos were taken in June, right before we left for the USA.  (The scaffolding went up right after that and came down about a month after we got back.)

First up, here’s Tobi waving to us from our apartment window.

(On a side note, isn’t that a SWEET van?!  The sliding door on the other side was locked with a combination lock!)

The front door

The left side of the door

The door to the garden behind the house

And now for the after shots.  I guess I should have taken the after shots at the same angles, but there’s really not much to see (unlike the different graffiti stuff from the before shots), so I went for the more general view.

The biggest change is obviously the fact that it’s not brown and white anymore, but gray and white.  Tobi and I both preferred the brown — it pops so much more! — but it is definitely better with the new, fresh coat of paint.

Pretty snazzy, isn’t it?

Our apartment is the 2nd floor, the one in the middle.

The door to the backyard garden.  (Hey, look at that dandelion down there on the left!  How cute!)

So even though we liked the brown better, I’m happy our house got a facelift.  Now let’s see how long it takes until someone decides to graffiti it!

  1. The renovation looks amazing. So sparkly! Now you just need to find out how to get that van to stay parked in front at all times. And the combo to the door. What could be in there? My guess- the gang of Scooby Doo.
